Regarding research Greg Paul has done which shows a strong correlation (not causation) between religious faith and social ills:
“But ‘I also wanted to warn Christians that the argument for the truth of the Christian faith is independent of the social science statistics. It actually has very little to do with suggesting to a society that if you adopt [Christianity], you will better off as a people,’ he said.
‘I would go so far to say that I would not want a person to become a Christian because they want to see a lowering in social pathologies, but because they’ve come to believe in Christ.'”
WTF!?!?! Last time I checked, Christ wanted to (among other things):
- Help the poor.
- Feed the hungry.
- Clothe the naked.
- Forgive our enemies.
- Treat everyone as family.
The list just goes on and on. If Christianity isn’t about lowered social pathologies, than what is it about? I hate hypocrisy. If Christianity is true, at least I’m comfortable knowing that jack-asses like Tim Cupery will burn in hell.
